SATHIYAN KONESWARARAJAH
Sathiyan Koneswararajah was a remarkable young soccer player, admired for his quiet, empathetic, warm-hearted nature and simple smile. Like many young people, he began using substances recreationally, not fully understanding the limits or the risks; which eventually led him developing a substance abuse and addictions battle. Over time, he faced challenges such as cyberbullying, social isolation, and difficulties with self-growth and motivation, which contributed to his mental health struggles including anxiety and depression.
Tragically, at the age of 19, Sathiyan passed away due to the overwhelming effects of these struggles. His story is a powerful reminder of the complex connection between substance use, addictions, and mental health, and the importance of early intervention, understanding, and compassionate care. Sathiyan’s memory inspires us to raise awareness, break stigmas, and provide hope and guidance to others navigating similar challenges in the Tamil and South Asian Community.
